Thanksgiving

We have always gone to Jeff's maternal grandparents house for Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving has become too much work for his grandparents, so we have offered to host Thanksgiving every year from now on (unless of course if someone else wants to have it at their house one year). This was the first year we had Thanksgiving at out house and the first time Jeff and I have cooked a turkey. Jeff was pretty nervous about it, but the bird came out pretty tasty.

Thanksmas

As I said in a previous post, my mom and her husband Sat were in Spokane for Thanksgiving. On Saturday, we had Thanksmas (Christmas with my mom and Sat before they went back home to Arizona) at our house. We had some yummy blackened chicken sandwiches that my "mediocre of a chief" husband made. Then we opened presents, played games, and ate fudge.

Thanksgiving weekend

I have no pictures of Thanksgiving. I don't know why, but I always forget my camera, or forget to take pictures of Thanksgiving. Either way, I don't have any pictures of Thanksgiving. This year, my mom and her husband Sat came up from Arizona. They arrived late Wednesday night and left Sunday afternoon. It was nice to spend some time with them. On Thanksgiving we had lunch at Jeff's Grandma and Grandpa Long's house. Then dinner at my sister Julia's house. Friday we all had another Thanksgiving dinner at my dad's house. It was great spending time with family!

Thanksgiving 2010

This year we had a quiet Thanksgiving at home. We had ham instead of turkey, because ham is just plain better than turkey! Our neighbors had plans to go to his parents house, two hours away on Thanksgiving, but their changed at the last minute, so we invited them to have dinner with us. I feel like a real grown up now that we did Thanksgiving all by our selves.

Thanksgiving 2009

Mason brought home this "thankful turkey", or chicken as Mason calls it, from Preschool. Every time he said "thank you" for something, or was told "thank you" he was to feed his turkey a bean. He loved keeping track of how many 'thank yous" he said or heard. We had Thanksgiving at my parents house. They had a pretty full house with just the siblings and grand kids. Mason took most of these pictures, so enjoy his photography skills.

Thanksgiving Feast

This last Thursday Mason had a Pilgrim and Indian Thanksgiving feast at Preschool. We learn a few tidbits about the first Thanksgiving, made a really cute turkey out of an apple, froot loops, and marshmallows (sorry no pic of that), and made thankful baskets. Then we had some yummy soup, cornbread, and cookies.

This year for Thanksgiving we went to my parents house. Most of my siblings were also able to be there, it was great to spend Thanksgiving with all of them. I apparently was a little spacey and forgot my camera, so thanks to Jared and Michelle, who remembered theirs, I stole these pictures from their blog. Thanks for letting me steal some pictures!

After we spent time with my family, we went to Jeff's Grandma Borders' house. And of course I didn't have my camera, so sorry no pictures. When we got home, Cooper went right to bed, and Jeff, Mason, and I watched The Polar Express. Watching a Christmas movie Thanksgiving night is something Jeff and I want to do as a tradition.

We had a great Thanksgiving, the only thing I wish I had, were some of the leftovers. I guess I'm going to have to start making our own Thanksgiving meal.
