Through a child's eyes

Have you ever looked around on the ground after it rains? If you have, you've probably seen worms wiggling around down there.
On our way back from walking Mason to the bus this morning, Cooper noticed tons of worms all over the pavement. We had a good conversation about why they were there and if they we going to go back to their homes in the dirt.
After learning that some would make it back home and others would dry up before reaching their destination, Cooper became determined to save as many worms as possible. Kinley had fallen asleep on the way back, so I figured we had time to save a few. A few turned into probably close to 20. A walk that normally takes 2 minutes, took over 15.
Even though I was getting hungry and light headed due to running a mile on our elliptical earlier this morning and had not eaten anything yet, it was so worth it. Seeing how happy Cooper was when I went a long with his plan to save the worms, and how much happier he got with each worm we saved was well worth the hunger pains and light head.
Here are two worms we found by our driveway. Cooper is pointing at one and the other is behind his shoe.
Here are the same two worms after being saved.

2 Months

Kinley turned two months this last Tuesday and had her two month check up the following day. She is hitting all her milestones at this age.

She weighs 12 lbs 1oz which puts her in the 81% and is 23.5 inches long, which puts her in the 88%/

Kinley is a good baby. We think she is lactose sensitive though because for a few feedings after I drink milk or eat yogurt, she spits up curdled stuff. So I've cut out a lot of dairy products and as a consequence, I crave it bad.

She is beginning to sleep better, most nights. She used to wake up, eat, and stay awake for hours at a time. Now she wakes up to eat and goes right back to sleep. I don't remember any of our other babies wanting to stay awake for several hours in the middle of the night, so that one was new, and frustrating for me.

Her sister and brothers love her to pieces. Mason and Cooper are so good with her. Shiloh hasn't show any signs of jealousy yet. She loves to say Kinley's name and is always curious where Kinley is if she is not in the same room. Shiloh asks for Kinley every morning if I am not holding her when I go in Shiloh's room to get her up.

Kinley smiled for the first time on September 28th. Mason was the lucky recipient of Kinley's first smile. She has been full of smiles ever sense.

Kinley sporting a hat my friend Jen made for her. As you can see, she really likes it.

I caught Shiloh saying Kinley's name on video. I think it is super cute how Shiloh says her name.

Salt Lake City Trip

For Jeff's 30th birthday I surprised him with round trip plane tickets to Salt Lake City and tickets to the Saturday afternoon session of General Conference. This was a BIG deal for Jeff as he had never been outside of Washington, Oregon, and Idaho and had never been on a plane before. I've had this idea brewing in my head for about a year now and I'm so glad I was able to pull it off.
Inside the plane on our way to Salt Lake.

A statue of Joseph and Hyrum Smith right outside of the Legacy Theater in the Joseph Smith Memorial Building. Joseph Smith was the first Prophet of the latter-days and first President of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

Salt Lake City Temple. This building took 40 years to construct. Though not the first temple constructed, it is one of the largest. Temples are sacred places of worship where Latter-Day Saints gather to perform saving ordinances and make personal covenants to live their lives in accordance with the teachings of Jesus Christ.

A view of the angel Moroni on top of the temple. Moroni visited with Joseph Smith to relate to him wear the golden plates (the Book of Mormon) were hidden. Moroni also prepared Joseph for the work of translating the ancient plates.

A bronze statue of Joseph Smith inside the Joseph Smith Memorial Building. Joseph grew up on a farm in Palmyra, in upstate New York and worked with his father and brothers to support the family.

There is a lot of misunderstanding about this statue. Many believe it represents our worship of seagulls. But this monument depicts how seagulls saved the crops of the early saints from a swarm of locusts. This monument was to commemorate how god works miracles and watches over his children.

This statue is a depiction of one of the handcart companies that crossed the plains after being driven from their homes. The Latter-Saints were the only religious group in the history of the United States to be issued an extermination order.

I wonder where these stairs go to inside the assembly hall?
